EXPLORING THE CONCEPT OF THE HYPERLOOP

13 November 2019

Standing in a long queue for passport control is the last thing you would choose to do on an early morning. The night was sleepless: you had to pack your suitcase and leave home early enough to drive miles away from the city center, not to mention the traffic. Who cannot relate to the struggle of airplane travels? Yet, it is a necessary process we have to go through if we want to reach some distant location.

Now, the inquisitive minds of humans have never taken things for granted. Elon Musk had an idea for this one…

Let’s invent another means of transportation! Such that it will allow people to travel miles without hassle. Let it be more energy efficient and faster than trains. Let its stations be more accessible than those of planes. Let it be with the speed of airlines but with the frequency of an underground. Let’s call it Hyperloop!

Elon Musk announced the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition in 2015 to support the development of functional prototypes and encourage innovative student teams to design and build the best high-speed pod. SpaceX, a private American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company, provides a 1.25km Hyperloop tube for an annual test-run of the top 22 competing teams.

Last year the winning team was from Technical University of Munich (TUM Hyperloop) with a Top Speed of 288 mph.

Every year engineering teams work to perfect their technologies, making Hyperloop more efficient. With their efforts the technology behind Hyperloop will mature from a concept to a prototype that can one day be implemented in our everyday lives.

Are you as eager as we are to leave the airport hassle behind and embrace the fruitful progress of humanity? Then stay tuned for updates, news and insights!
